Software Engineer Coop – Developed Software for NASA’s Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA), and for Raytheon’s FORCEII Fiber Optic Communication System
Key Accomplishments
- Trained software developers at Raytheon and at NASA (Moffett Field) on an avionics protocol; this allowed developers to build a software simulator that saved roughly $50,000 in equipment costs
- Guided 2 other engineers in authoring and executing test plans and procedures for the SOFIA Mission Control Subsystem, an activity that helped Raytheon qualify for CMM Level 3 status
- Designed initial prototypes for the SOFIA cavity door graphic user interface
- Developed the FORCEII boot-loader which initialized the FORCEII system without user intervention
